Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon

Appearance:

• Clear
• Purple
• Medium plus intensity
• Pronounced narrow purple tears

Nose:

• Clean
• Medium intensity
• Slightly herbaceous with hints of baking spice, toasted cedar plank, black cherry compote

Palate:

• Dry
• Medium intensity
• Medium plus acidity
• Medium plus tannins
• Medium alcohol
• Medium bodied
• Essence of soft black cherry, slight blackberry, vanilla, baking chocolate and a herbaceous note
• Finishes medium length and dry. Lingering vanillas and herbaceous flavors.

Conclusion

This wine cries to have food paired with it. The high acidity will stand up to food and the proteins in the food will tame the tannins. There is a nice berry component, and although one dimensional, is pleasant to drink. The alcohol, at 13.5%, is a welcomed restraint compared to other ‘modern’ Cabs. I felt the alcohol but in no way was the wine driven by it. Well put together. Ridiculous buy for the price, $7.99.
