It is human nature to avoid or limit our exposure to things that we do not feel comfortable with. In my opinion, this is why most people either avoid wine completely or limit what they drink to one or two varietals. People have a tendency to stay within their ‘beverage comfort zone’, so to speak.
Believe me when I say that I know how you feel. I too was trapped in the Cabernet or Chardonnay rotation. This was large in part because I’d been frustrated many times in purchasing wines that had a nice label, but were lackluster once opened. This blatant absence of knowledge motivated me and what began as a hobby, has gone horribly array. Now, a few years and hundreds of bottles later, I know a little more about wine.
