Barossa Zone (Regions: Barossa Valley and Eden Valley)

 
1. Barossa Valley

•  Area’s climate is very hot and dry
•  White grapes (Chardonnay, Riesling and Semillon) are located on the higher altitude hill sides around the valley
• Best known for GSM grapes (Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvèdre), some are ancient vines
• Winemakers have successfully introduced new varieties (Viognier both as a stand alone variety and, uniquely, blended with Shiraz)
• Other new varieties include Tempranillo, Zinfandel and Marsanne

2. Eden Valley

• Higher elevation a colder, wetter climate than Barossa
• Hill of Grace vineyard with its 130+ year old Shiraz vines found here
• Also well known for its limestone noted Rieslings
